Junior Athletics with Victoria Native Friendship Centre
The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council – Vancouver Island Region – is pleased to present Run Jump Throw Wheel, an athletics sport development camp for Indigenous youth (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) hosted in partnership with Victoria Native Friendship Centre.
This multi-week sport development camp is open to youth ages 4+ and will combine two amazing programs:
Run Jump Throw Wheel (RJTW) is Athletics Canada’s grassroots development program and teaches fundamental movement skills and develops physical literacy using track and field inspired activities and games lead by instructors specifically trained to teach the fundamentals of running, jumping, throwing and wheeling (for children in wheelchairs).
The goal of Run Jump Throw Wheel is to provide a physical activity program that serves as a strong foundation for all sports and assist children in learning to move efficiently so that they grow into adults who will stay active!
Junior NBA which focuses on FUN first by teaching physical literacy skills and the fundamental movement skills of running, jumping, throwing, catching, balance, agility, and co-ordination. The program will also work to begin and progress on the development of some of the fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, rebound and playing defense.
The main objective of Junior Athletics is FUN!!!

Participants are suggested to wear comfortable (athletic) clothing and footwear.
