Team BC Athlete Fee Announced for the 2017 Toronto NAIG

Our journey towards the 2017 Toronto North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) is well underway. Through the months of athlete selection processes we are confident we are assembling a strong, competitive team that will represent BC in Toronto. The 2017 NAIG will be an unforgettable experience for all of Team BC and through the collaborative effort of the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) and the Province of British Columbia, we are now able to announce that the TEAM BC Athlete fee has been set at $450.00 (per athlete). With the generous support of the Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada, we are able to make it an affordable experience as well. Please note that the Team BC fee only applies to athletes. Volunteer Team BC coaches, managers and chaperones are not required to pay the fee. 

The Team BC BC Fee includes:

  • 2017 NAIG Participant Fee $220/athlete
  • Air Transportation to/from Toronto from designated major departure hub (e.g. Vancouver-YVR) on the Team BC Charter flights.
  • Accommodations in Toronto
  • Daily meals in Toronto
  • Transportation to and from competition venues
  • Opening Ceremony outfit
  • Team BC competition uniform

The Team BC fee does not cover the following expenses:

  • Transportation to and from the major departure hub
  • Meals while traveling en route to/from Toronto (ie. no meal service on the charter flights)
  • “spending” money (e.g. souvenirs, snacks)
  • Travel expenses to participate in any pre-NAIG training camp with your team.
  • For insurance purposes, some select sports may also require 2017 membership fee with the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO).
  • Accessories or equipment required for your sport (e.g. shin guards, mouth guards, pads)

The deadline to submit the fee is 5PM Friday May 19, 2017. Athletes must complete this process and submit payment by the deadline in order to be eligible to attend the 2017 NAIG. Letters of support for fundraising efforts can be provided upon request.

Team BC Athlete Fee Payment Options:

Forms of payment accepted include:

  • Credit, Debit Card or PayPal (Processed via the Team BC Registration Form)
  • Cheque or Money Order
    • Must be made payable to: “BCAAFC”.
    • Must be received post-marked before or on May 19, 2017
    • Athlete’s full name must be clearly added to the memo line

Regardless of your preferred payment option, all Team BC athletes must fill out the following form before the deadline of May 19, 2017.

Refund Policy:

  • Any athlete withdrawing from their participation in NAIG for any reason must notify their coach and Team BC Coordinator at teambc@isparc.ca in writing. Requests for refund must also be received in writing to teambc@isparc.ca.
  • If an athlete withdraws for any reason from their participation in NAIG on or before June 1, 2017, a refund of $440 will only be granted if TEAM BC is able to fill their spot with an alternate by June 15, 2017 (the $10.00 processing fee would not be refunded). If TEAM BC is unable to fill their spot, a 50% refund of $225 will be provided.
  • If an athlete withdraws for any reason from their participation in NAIG after June 1, 2017 and on or before June 15, 2017, a 50% refund of $225 will only be granted if TEAM BC is able to fill their spot with an alternate. If TEAM BC is unable to fill their spot, no refund will be granted.
  • If an athlete withdraws for any reason from their participation in NAIG after June 15, 2017, no refund will be granted.
  • Please note: TEAM BC uniforms are only provided to those who attend NAIG.
