I∙SPARC is pleased to announce the National Indigenous Basketball Camp (NIBC). The NIBC is a high-performance Indigenous basketball camp with the goal of providing opportunities for Indigenous youth between the ages of 13-15 with high-performance potential to further develop and excel through basketball both on and off-court. This project is being organized by both the Aboriginal Sport Circle and Canada Basketball.
The mission is to increase the representation of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit participation in high- performance basketball programs at both a provincial/territorial and national level.
Project Details
-Location: Seven Chiefs Sportsplex, Chief Jim Starlight Centre.
-Accommodations: Grey Eagle Resort, Tsuut’ina, Alberta.
-Dates: September 27-29, 2024.
-Arrival Airport: Calgary International Airport (YYC).
-Total Athlete Participants: Approximately 52 (26 males and 26 females); 2 male and 2 female athlete representatives from each province/territory.
-Athlete Age Category: Ages 13-15.
Deadline to register is Thursday, August 8 2024 at 4:00 PM.
Athlete Selection Criteria
BC will select 2 male and 2 female athletes based on the following eligibility criteria:
-Must be of Indigenous ancestry.
-Must be over the age of 13 and under the age of 16, as of December 31, 2024 (Year of Birth: 2009 to 2011).
-Must provide proof of completion of the 2023-2024 school year (report card/certificate of grading).
-Sign and submit 2024 NIBC Athlete Registration Form for all selected athletes.
-Must be a BC resident.
