Equipment Grant Program
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer the Equipment Grant for Fall/Winter 2018. Please sign up for our mailing list at https://isparc.ca/join-mailing-list/ to be notified of the next opportunity.
All First Nations, Métis Chartered Communities and Friendship Centres are eligible to apply for the Equipment Grant. In addition, some community not-for-profit organizations that deliver Indigenous sport, recreation and/or physical activity programs will be eligible to apply. The equipment must be used to promote healthy active lifestyles for Indigenous communities by reducing barriers and increasing access to sport, recreation and physical activity programs.
Applications that demonstrate the following will rank highest within the application evaluation process:
- New programs and initiatives which address gaps in basic access to sport, recreation and/or physical activity
- A well-defined need for the equipment, plan for its use, and description of the barriers it will help to reduce
- A large number of Indigenous people benefiting from use of the equipment
- Easy access, qualified supervision, and shared use of equipment
PLEASE NOTE: Sport Apparel (jerseys, pinnies) electronics (projectors, scoreboards, fitness trackers), large single-user items such as treadmills and items for one individual athlete are NOT ELIGIBLE for the Equipment Grant Program.

All applications must include an official purchase quote or invoice from the supplier, with all applicable taxes and shipping included in the total amount requested (a screenshot showing all of the relevant information is acceptable) and a minimum of 1 letter(s) of support from community partners, organization heads or others willing to provide a statement of support for your application. Please have quotes and letter(s) ready for upload to the online application in either Word or PDF formats. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Funds will be released either by reimbursement or submission of receipts showing method and proof of purchase, or by direct billing through I·SPARC Administrative Coordinator. Those who do not submit receipts to the online Fund Release submission form, or confirm their process with the Administrative Coordinator before the fund release deadline on the notification will forfeit their grant and not be eligible for the next round. Extensions for special circumstances may be available if the Administrative Coordinator is contacted before the fund release deadline. Equipment placed on a supplier account will not be eligible, please contact the Administrative Coordinator to arrange direct billing instead.
The Equipment Grant Program is delivered through each of I·SPARC’s six Regional Committees, inclusive of the Northwest, Northeast, Interior, Fraser, Vancouver Coastal and Vancouver Island. Regional Selection Committees will be responsible for evaluating the applications submitted by communities/organizations from within their region and awarding the grants.
Due to limited funds, not all applicants will be selected. All applicants will be notified of their application status once selections are complete. All grant recipients will be required to complete and submit a final report, which will be provided by I·SPARC.
