Team BC Announces Rosters for 2024 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships

Traditional Territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples / Victoria B.C. (April 11, 2024) – The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I∙SPARC) is pleased to announce the players and volunteer personnel who will represent British Columbia in the 2024 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC). The NAHC will be hosted on Treaty 8 territory in Grande Prairie, Alberta from May 5-11th, 2024. This marks the first time the championships will be held in Alberta.

I·SPARC hosted its Team BC Player Selection Camp from April 5-7th, 2024 in Prince George, B.C. where over 150 elite Indigenous men and women hockey players participated in the three-day process. From the camp, twenty men and twenty women players were selected. These players will not only represent BC, but they will also proudly represent their Indigenous Nations and communities at this prestigious national championship.

“Congratulations to the outstanding hockey players and team staff selected to represent Team BC in the upcoming 2024 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This year’s three-day Provincial Selection Camp was one of the highest attended camps in the program’s history, which demonstrates the growth of Indigenous participation in hockey throughout the province,” said Rick Brant, CEO of I·SPARC. “It is with great pride that we announce the final rosters of our two teams, as we prepare for our journey to Grande Prairie. We hope all the players and personnel will build lasting friendships and memories from their time in Alberta.”

During the 2023 Championships, held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Team BC’s men’s team came home with a bronze medal. Both teams have their sights set on medal contention, as they compete against an amazing group of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis hockey players across the country.
