If you work with or supervise youth of Aboriginal ancestry, the Aboriginal Coaching Module is an essential training resource. If you wish to understand, relate to, and apply Aboriginal cultural perspectives that will allow you to motivate, inspire, and lead those youth towards a successful and meaningful lifestyle, this workshop was designed for you.

This interactive workshop is available to both Aboriginal and mainstream organizations who have Aboriginal youth in their sport, social, or employment programs. Gathering Our Voices: Indigenous Youth Leadership Training

The Gathering Our Voices (GOV) Indigenous Youth Leadership Training, hosted by the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) and its Provincial Aboriginal Youth Council (PAYC), is held annually in March during the education break. Since GOV began, the goal for the leadership training has been simple and unwavering: provide Indigenous youth with the tools to work towards a better tomorrow by improving themselves and the world in which they live.

Over the course of four days, Indigenous delegates gather from across Canada to participate in ceremonies, workshops and engaging, informative and educational experiences. GOV is held in various locations throughout the province to enable the greatest intake of new participants each year. Locations are rotated through Vancouver Island, lower mainland, the interior and the north.

The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council supports GOV as the single largest national health-focused youth event as it promotes healthy living within each of the Aboriginal Healthy Living Association’s (AHLA) four priority areas: increased physical activity, healthy eating, reduction of tobacco misuse, and healthy communities.
