I·SPARC is pleased to announce the opening of the 2026 Food Systems Program (FSP) Grant. The FSP supports Indigenous communities across British Columbia in strengthening food security and advancing food sovereignty through community-driven projects and initiatives. The program provides grants, capacity-building opportunities, technical training, networking, and cultural knowledge sharing to help communities grow sustainable and long-term food systems.
Applications for the 2026–27 funding cycle will open on eligible applicants, including First Nations, Métis Nation BC Chartered Communities, Indigenous-led organizations, and organizations serving Indigenous populations in BC, may apply for up to $5,000 in funding. Successful applicants may also be eligible for an additional Learning Together, Growing Together top-up grant of up to $3,000 focused on mentorship, training, workshops, and knowledge sharing.
Funding can support a wide range of food-related activities, including planning work, wages or honoraria, tools, equipment, materials, and food-related infrastructure such as community gardens, smokehouses, or storage facilities. Projects must directly benefit Indigenous populations in BC and focus on long-term community capacity building, cultural connection, and knowledge sharing.
The Food Systems Program prioritizes projects that are community-focused and inclusive of Indigenous food systems and food relations. While the program supports food security initiatives, funding is not intended solely for immediate food access programs unless there is a strong skill-building or educational component connected to the project.
Funding decisions will be communicated within four weeks of the application deadline, and all approved projects must be completed by March 31, 2027. Communities and organizations interested in applying are encouraged to review the full program details and connect with the Food Systems Program team at Food@isparc.ca with any questions or project ideas.
The grant period runs from May 25 to June 15, 2026. All information can be found on the Food Systems Program (FSP) Grant page.
