BC Indigenous Provincial Championships & Athlete Development Camps Announced for September

These camps are an important component of the Provincial Strategy for Indigenous Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity. The events provide a unique opportunity for Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) athletes and coaches throughout the province to gather and compete in events that promote sport excellence while celebrating cultural unity and pride.

These camps a great opportunity for any young athletes interested in participating in the 2028 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG).  They allow athletes to develop skills and meet athletes from across the province, in preparation for Team BC talent identification/selection processes to occur in 2027.

Canoe & Kayak in Kamloops

I∙SPARC is pleased to present its BC Indigenous Canoe & Kayak Camp and Championships! This event is in partnership with Canoe Kayak BC.

This two-day event is being held on September 19-20, 2026 at the Kamloops Water Sports Facility in Kamloops, BC.

The first portion of the camp on Day 1 will focus on skill development in both canoe and kayak. While the races will follow a reduced North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) race card – see details in registration form.

Indigenous youth (First Nations, Métis, Inuit), ages 10-18 and with previous Canoe & Kayak experience are invited to participate.
