SWIMMING MEDAL HAUL
The swim team created an electric atmosphere as they raked in an incredible number of medals, with an unofficial count of 30+ medals. Coach Leanne Sirup said, “It was a lot of fun being on deck with the team, and we are really proud!” We’re so excited to see our swimmers’ futures; we sure do have a lot of talented Team BC swimming athletes. Ooh ah! West coast, best coast! 

ATHLETICS BRINGS IN 6 MEDALS TODAY
Wrapping up day 3 of Track at Beazley Field Park, the team had a great showing in results, with several medals and top 8 finishes. Congratulations to all of the hardworking athletes! Today, we brought in two silver medals and four bronze medals. What an incredible accomplishment, athletes! Good luck to the cross country team tomorrow! 

FIRST EVER BEACH VOLLEYBALL MEDAL
Team BC wins FIRST EVER medal in beach volleyball! The 16U female team, Tymeko Collinson (Skidegate Band Council) and Mischa Krawcyzk (Duncan’s First Nation) won a silver medal, after competing with such heart throughout the competition. In its inaugural year as a Team BC sport at NAIG, Head Coach, Kat Dolguikh stated “I am so proud of all our beach volleyball athletes! They made tremendous progress throughout the Games and have learned to love the sport. Go Team BC!” 

LAST DAY OF CANOE KAYAK
Wrapping up the last day of canoe and kayak, days seemed to fly by fast. All teams connected through the trading of pins and made many friendships. Having yesterday and today’s medal ceremonies at the end of the day today, each team came together to stand at the top of the 1st podium with arms around each other and big smiles. Over the course of four days, our Canoe Kayak athletes won 53 medals (unofficial). 

3D ARCHERY ADVANCES TO SEMI FINALS
Exciting update! Tomorrow, three BC archers are moving on to the semi finals. The athletes include Hadley Williams (Wet’suet’en First Nation) from Burns Lake in 16U Compound, Cikqwlx Hall-Andrew (Osoyoos Indian Band) from Oliver in 16U Barebow, and Terrel Frezie-Baptiste (We Wai Kai Nation) from Oliver in 19U Compound. Remarkably, Terrel is just 15 years old and competing with older kids in his category! 

16U FEMALE VOLLEYBALL TEAM MOVES TO QUARTER FINALS
The 16U female volleyball had two intense matches against Team Manitoba and Team Alberta. While Manitoba took the first game, Team BC proved victorious in the third set against Alberta with a staggering score of 15-4. The 16U female will be heading into the quarter finals tomorrow at 10:15am AST! 

It was a tough but fun day for the 19U female volleyball team going into their final round robin against Team Alberta. While Team Alberta took the win, the girls fought hard and played a great game. Unfortunately, the 19U female competition is over at NAIG, but there is still lots of fun to be had! 

The 19U male volleyball team showed incredible spirit as they faced off against the leading team, Alberta, in their final round robin today. The boys team came 3rd in Pool A, unfortunately, falling one place short of making it to the semi finals, but lots of great moments and memories were made at this year’s NAIG! 

TEAM BC’S GOLF SQUAD SHOWCASED THEIR TALENT ON THE LINKS AT BRUNELLO
Brody Brook, hailing from Okanagan Indian Band, delivered an awe-inspiring performance today, sinking a remarkable 30-foot putt for birdie on the 18th hole. This fantastic finish earned him an impressive 3 under par and propelled him to a well-deserved 2nd place. Brody remarked that he felt an “electric atmosphere on the 18th green after I made my putt.”  Brody’s outstanding achievements earned him the silver medal for Team BC. Congratulations, Brody, on this remarkable feat! 

Our 19U male golfers also displayed great determination and skill, improving their standings to secure a better spot than in previous rounds. Their unwavering efforts have made us immensely proud. 

Assistant Coach Kylie Jack mentioned that “the entire final round was exciting. You can tell the hard work put in prior to the tournament, making it a joy to watch our players excel.” 

Hats off to our dedicated coaches, Chief Frank Antoine and Team BC NAIG alumnus Kylie Jack, for leading and guiding our golf crew.

Congratulations once again to Brody and the entire Team BC golf squad for their incredible performance. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these talented athletes. 

FULL DAY OF BADMINTON
Congratulations to Kate Edgar (Ditidaht First Nation) of Port Alberni on her impressive performance in today’s quarter finals! “In my experience playing badminton in Halifax, stress is often replaced by excitement when I see my teammates’ outstanding games, and when I make perfect shots in high-risk matches.” said Kate. Plus a congrats to Keiran May (Inuit) from Victoria for exhibiting great skill and effort throughout his game. 

Special recognition goes to the mixed doubles pair, Anthony Green (Simpcw First Nation) from Barriere and Hannah Hunt (Kwakiutl Band Council) from Port Hardy, for their amazing game and wholehearted effort. “I had a wonderful time playing doubles and cherishing the victories alongside Kate, Keiran and Anthony.” shared Hannah. Gold medal match will take place tomorrow for Kate! 

SOCCER WORKING HARD ON THE FIELD
The 16U female team started out very organized and scored goals quickly from the counter-attack. Despite it being a rough game, the team remained good sports, played a great game, and won 4-1. The 16U male team lost 2-0 but showed dedication, hard work, and perseverance. Our 19U female soccer team showed off their incredible skills and team spirit on the field, securing a resounding 10-0 win in their latest match! The 19U male team displayed some serious skills on the field – from jaw-dropping goals to solid defense, they absolutely nailed it! Four goals were netted, and not a single one slipped past our rock-solid goalie. Way to go, team! 

BASKETBALL MOVING ON TO THE SEMI FINALS
In the world of basketball, it’s not always about winning; sometimes, it’s the journey that defines us. Today, our 14U female team fought hard and lost, but they will bring home lessons that will last a lifetime. The 14U male team had a day off today, but will be back playing in the semi finals tomorrow! 

The 19U female basketball team played with lots of “heart,” said Coach Mitra Tshan, and laid everything out on the court, beating Minnesota 53-48 to secure a spot in the semi finals tomorrow at 1 PM (AST). The 19U male team had a day off and will also play in the semi-finals tomorrow at 8 PM (AST). The 16U  female team team won against Team Ontario 53-45 and the 16U males had the day off and are going to semi finals. Both 16U teams will both play against Wisconsin at 9 AM (AST) tomorrow in the semi finals! 

RIFLE WITH THREE MEDALS
Strong results for Team BC rifle athlete Marissa Crouse from Lake Babine Nation – Woyenne (as pictured above) with an incredible finish of bronze in 3P, silver in prone, and silver in overall (sum of both prone and 3P)! Competition will continue tomorrow! 

GREAT DAY OF LACROSSE 
Team BC Lacrosse off to gold medal matches! All three teams fought hard today to win their semi final matches. The 19U male lacrosse team had a rematch against Team EDN and this time, came out on top. Bring your best hype as they battle for gold on Saturday! 

CORRECTION: SILVER FOR WRESTLING
We wanted to share a correction to our newsletter from yesterday regarding wrestling. After being challenged by third place, Fayth Pontious (Métis Nation British Columbia) from Campbell River wrestled again and held her 2nd place title! Congratulations to Fayth for her Silver medal in wrestling!
