Employment Notice: Coordinator, Team BC NAIG

The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) is a provincial organization established for the purpose of improving the health outcomes of Indigenous people by supporting and encouraging physically active individuals, families, and communities. The programs and services delivered by I·SPARC are designed to build capacity and increase access to sport, recreation, and physical activity in First Nations, Aboriginal Friendship Centres, Métis Chartered Communities, schools, and other delivery agencies throughout British Columbia.

General Description

I·SPARC is currently seeking a Coordinator, Team BC NAIG. Working as a member of the Team BC sport team, this individual provides excellent administrative and project management skills, with a passion for sports and sport management. This position will help with the planning for Team BC’s participation in the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) taking place, July 15-23, 2023, in Halifax, NS, and provide general support across all of I·SPARC’s regional and performance sport programs.

 

Competencies and Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a background in event management and / or sport management, with some “on-the-ground” event operations experience. Other qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with 2+ years’ experience and / or education working in sport management and / or event management (or combination of education and experience)NOTE: Part-time work experience during studies and relevant volunteer experience will be taken into consideration
  • Knowledge of the diversity of Indigenous cultures, identities, lived history, and community issues
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing timelines, project management systems and communications
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize workflows while working remotely in a busy program with many critical deadlines
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule (including some weekends)
  • Available to travel throughout the province, as well as attend the North American Indigenous Games, and any related I·SPARC / Team BC events
  • Successfully undergo criminal record and vulnerable sector checks
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license

Contract Fees and Duration: This is a full-time contract position starting immediately through until August 31, 2023. The contract fee is $3,900 per month.

Location: This is a remote work position. Candidate must be a resident of British Columbia.
