“Cultivating Safe Spaces” with Elaine Alec takes place on March 7th, 2023 from 9AM-11AM (PST)

Elaine Alec is from the Syilx and Secwépemc Nations. She is a political advisor, women’s advocate, spiritual thought leader, and the author of Calling My Spirit Back, a memoir about growing up as an Indigenous girl in Canada and the impacts of colonization.

As part of the Engagement & Education webinar series this workshop will continue to cover topics that affect young women and girls in their participation in sport and physical activity, while providing tools to address the safety and wellbeing of female participants within programs.

It will also draw from the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls for Justice:

1. Physical and mental health;
2. Suicide prevention;
3. Sexual trafficking awareness and prevention;
4. Safe and healthy relationships; and
5. Sexual positivity (2SLGBTQQIA+)
