The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (I·SPARC) is pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2023 Healthy Living Leader Training Sessions.

Join us, in-person, for two fun-filled days with learning, movement, and laughter. These sessions are open to all community members who want to deliver an Indigenous RunWalkWheel or Honour Your Health Challenge program. Our sessions are regionally focused and we encourage you to sign up for your region’s training dates.

This year is PACKED with fantastic workshops and presentations including; Cultivating Safe Spaces with best selling author Elaine Alec, Holistic Wellness with the one and only Gerry Oleman, and the keynote presentation “As I Am,” with Madelaine McCallum. There are also fantastic workshops including cultural activities, traditional foods and medicines, active sessions for all, evening traditional healing ceremony and more! *Please note that due to limited room capacity in Kamloops, we are referring leaders from the Cariboo region to attend the Prince George session Oct. 3-4. Included are leaders living in or north of Williams Lake, such as Soda Creek and Quesnel, as well as communities west of Williams Lake along Highway 20 such as Riske Creek and Alexis Creek.*

If you’re brand new to leader training, welcome to our healthy living family! For new leaders, both days of training are mandatory. We have a jam packed agenda, and you won’t want to miss a single minute of all the fun!

For return leaders, please join us at 1 p.m. on the first day of training to receive brand new content for your Healthy Living program and to reconnect with your Healthy Living family.

Registration closes on September 18, 2023. We encourage you to register early, as capacity is limited.
At the conclusion of training, all participants are eligible for up to $1,000 in grant support for their Indigenous RunWalkWheel or Honour Your Health Challenge program!Honour Your Health Challenge
  • Develop your own 8-week program focused on physical activity, healthy eating, respecting tobacco or healthy communities – past programs include creating a community cookbook, “Drum and Fun,” planting vegetable gardens, traditional tea harvesting, “Kick the Nic” tobacco program, “Moccasin Mamas,” and many more!

Indigenous RunWalkWheel

  • Choose from an 8-week program preparing participants for a 5K RunWalkWheel event OR a 13-week program preparing participants for a 10K RunWalkWheel event!
