Indigenous athletes who want to take a shot at competing in archery at the Fort St. John 2020 BC Winter Games will have their opportunity as the Zone Trials are set to take place in November and December.

A partnership was announced in August between the BC Games Society, The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) and BC Archery to provide the opportunity for eight Indigenous athletes to compete and gain experience at the BC Winter Games.

Eligible athletes are born in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and must be a BC Archery member at the time of the Zone Trials and at the Games. Athletes must wear an armguard for both the Zone Trials and the Games and will be responsible for paying the Games registration fee of $175 should they advance from Zone Trials.

Athletes will shoot 18M Round (60 arrows) in Barebow, Recurve or Compound (not Traditional, but they may be able to modify the bow to make it work).

The BC Winter Games take place Feb. 20-23, 2020 and will include up to 1,800 participants from across BC competing in 15 different sports.

Below are the dates and info on each Zone Trial, please note that you must pre-register by emailing the appropriate contact with the following information: name, gender, year of birth, BC Archery membership number, equipment category, primary club and target preference (full-face 40 centimetres or vertical three-spot).
