Finance and Administrative Coordinator 

The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity & Recreation Council (I·SPARC) is a provincial organization established for the purpose of improving the health outcomes of Indigenous people by supporting and encouraging physically active individuals, families, and communities. The programs and services delivered by I·SPARC are designed to build capacity and increase access to sport, recreation, and physical activity in First Nations, Aboriginal Friendship Centres, Métis Chartered Communities, schools, and other delivery agencies throughout British Columbia.

General Description

I·SPARC is seeking a candidate to fill the full-time position of Finance and Administrative Coordinator. Reporting to the organization’s senior management team, the Finance and Administrative Coordinator is the central connector across I∙SPARC’s areas of operation. As the key administrative liaison, this position provides critical support to a wide range of administrative activities including Finance, Healthy Living, Sport, Grants, and Recognition. General duties include accounts receivables and payables processes, bank reconciliation, development of program systems, reporting tools and templates, data collection and tracking, grant intake and distribution, and maintaining contact/distribution lists.

Competencies and Requirements

The ideal candidate will be meticulous in their attention to detail and possess exceptional administrative skills. Other qualifications include:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma with intermediate accounting courses from University or College
  • QuickBooks Online certification(s)
  • Familiarity with Accounting Standards for Not For Profit (ASNPO)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint)
  • Fast, accurate keyboard skills
  • Experienced in electronic file management and data collection
  • Experience or knowledge of online software applications (e.g. Wufoo, Mailchimp, WordPress, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Flexible, adaptable with the ability to multi-task and manage a diverse workload with multiple deadlines
  • Work experience in the areas of grant administration and event coordination are assets
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Available to travel throughout the province as needed (requiring a flexible work schedule, access to vehicle and a valid driver’s license)
  • Successful completion of criminal record and vulnerable sector checks 

Term: Full-time employment contingent on annual funding

Salary: The salary range for this position is $48,000-$53,000 annually and will include a comprehensive health benefits package

Location: Victoria, British Columbia (or South Vancouver Island)
