I·SPARC – Fraser Region is pleased to present a Youth Rifle Shooting Camp Series for Indigenous youth (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) hosted in partnership with Scowlitz First Nation

This 4 week course serves as an introduction to Rifle shooting, in general. Emphasis is placed on the skills and techniques that will make you a safe and competent shooter. While we will emphasize Target shooting techniques and skills for competition, we will also discuss hunting and where some of the differences are. To be a good hunter, you still need to be able to shoot accurately.

We place a great deal of emphasis on safety. No unsafe practices or horseplay will be tolerated. Shooting is a very safe sport, but only with the appropriate care and attention paid to safety.

The class will start at 5 PM and run until 7 PM.

The course is 4 weeks long, and each lesson builds on the next, so it is very important that you don’t miss any lessons, or you will get left behind the others.

At 7 PM, after the end of the lesson, our .22 Club has it’s open shooting and you are encouraged to stay and practice. The cost is $5 for AFGC Members, and $6 for non-members. This is over and above the class itself, but a good opportunity to get some additional practice in. One or more coaches will be there to help, or you can just practice on your own, if you would prefer.

We also encourage your family and friends to join in the open practice at 7. Open Practice usually ends around 7:45, depending on the number of people shooting.

Parents are welcome to stay and watch. You will be required to wear eye and ear protection.

Open to all Indigenous youth (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) in the Fraser Region between the ages of 10-17 years old
