Victoria, BC – Two thousand (2,000) Aboriginal youth are anticipated to flood the front lawn of the Provincial Legislature on March 22, 2016 to participate in the first ever GOV – Nike N7 Move Moment.  The Gathering Our Voices (GOV) National Aboriginal Youth Conference is proud to partner with Nike N7 and Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council to engage participants in a 40 minute FitNation workout.

FitNation is an innovative fitness training program created by the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council. Designed specifically for Aboriginal communities in BC, the program encompasses dynamic stretching exercises that can be modified for any fitness level.

The goal of the GOV – Nike N7 Move Moment is to inspire and enable Aboriginal youth to be physically active.  A ‘Move Moment’ is a special moment in time when youth will mobilize in a unified commitment to their personal health and well-being and to motivate other Aboriginal youth to get active.

The GOV youth delegates will arrive at the Legislature front lawn between 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, with the GOV – Nike N7 Move Moment commencing at 4:00 pm.  Everyone in the community is encouraged to attend in support of our youth, and can choose to participate in the Move Moment activities if they desire.  This will be an exciting opportunity for youth to gather, be active, and have fun! The event will run rain or shine.
